We already have a uniden system attached to the house that is wired into our tv for monitoring but we wanted to add some cameras to 2 extra areas outside and well away from the house. So I picked this 2 camera system from jbhifi for $200. You do have to plug the cameras into mains power but I'd rather that then run off batteries that need replacing and charging all the time. We have one plugged into one of sheds out back but the other one is all the way out the front monitoring the front gate so we have to ru... I did not have to enter the uid code and I cannot find the requirement for uid code for U1420 system from the manual.

Ot having an electrical outlet close outside I need to run the cable through a slightly open window or you could drill a hole for the cable.

I assume with the doc we would have to have the cable laying down the hallway and across a bedroom looking disgusting to get this product to work. I assume I will also have to have an extension cord running across the front yard to charge the cameras with the transformer sitting out in the weather as well. As the third Uniden security camera kit this is a disappointing product. N an extension cable underground to go the distance.
I prefer this to having to replace a battery in the installed camera every few months. It has good night vision and can be set to record movement or continuously. Unfortunately it records bushes and trees when it is windy. It has a 8 GB memory card but I bought a 32GB card so it lasts about 4 or 5 weeks before recording over it.

The system is also pretty archaic - very mechanical and not very user friendly which is very Uniden in all their products. But on the flip side for what it cost in comparison to larger systems it works pretty well for what we need it for. Do not buy these products if you are needing good footage of anything happening, or if you need a security camera. According to the advertising this was a complete unit that was wireless and with 150 M possible connectivity and ability to be monitored by smartphone.

When you record for longer than 60 seconds the module freezes and has to be turned off and back on to work again. The battery is horrible for only being 2 years old. The cameras also no longer lock into their mounts as tight as they used to so its really hard to angle them to the position you want as they slip and self correct into another direction. F Uniden or others, which requires you to enter the uid code for the supplier database.
The app dock remote veiwing was a little dodgy to start with but time will hopefully iron out problems and possibly better than the previous skype version. Also you don't need any wifi or internet connection if you just want to view the cameras through the provided monitor. Can't comment on using it through my iPhone as have not set that up and have no interest in doing so. Setup is easy to join camera to monitor and I didn't need the internet but you need to use the internet for the app to monitor it on your phone. I think you need a $50 app dock as well possibly connected by cable to the internet. I don't have any cable connected to the internet for my system as I only use the monitor supplied.
